Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) – Southern Africa
International Federation of Journalists, Africa Region, Senegal
ARTICLE 19, Nairobi, Kenya
The Africa’s Editor Forum (TAEF)
The primary purpose of the working group is to steer and strategies the best way to meet the campaign’s objective of lobbying the adoption of an African Platform on Access to information by UNESCO come May 2011.
The Working Group is also lobbying for Windhoek as a venue for May 3, 2011, where it originally took off in 1991 and returned to in 2001. Members of the Windhoek+20 Working Group firmly believe that the 20th Anniversary of World Press Freedom Day should be celebrated in the Namibian capital again. This should serve the purpose of following traditions as well as remembering that global attention subsequently followed the event that took place on African soil in 1991 for the first time.
The Working Group is inviting all advocates of Access to Information from Africa and beyond, individuals and organisations to join this exciting and cutting edge continental initiative. To join simply add your name or that of your organisation HERE.
